Kay Wyrick was born in 1923, and was placed in the state system at a young age, but she refused to allow anyone to define her. When she set her mind to something she accomplished it.
​
She was a lifetime member of the NAACP and spent many years helping the youth of Waterbury.
She was involved in many organizations and received countless awards throughout the years.
​
Her influence on the community was immense.
The Kay Wyrick Library will stand as a testament in her honor.
